Whatever It Takes to Beat Parkinson's
As we approach Parkinson's awareness month in April, we are proud to share our latest work for the National Parkinson Foundation. What started as a project to design branded merchandise has become a national campaign involving NPF chapters around the country. The campaign, called Whatever It Takes, is designed to empower individuals and raise awareness of the many things that can be done to combat Parkinson's Disease. While other organizations are working on a cure, the National Parkinson Foundation has a unique mission: to improve the quality of life for the estimated 1 million people with Parkinson's in the US.
With this in mind, we wanted to do more with the merchandise than slap a logo on it - we wanted to educate and inspire. To do this, we created a supergraphic with icons representing hundreds of different tips on beating Parkinson's - from running, to drinking caffeine, to speaking loudly, to musical therapy. Then, we worked with NPF to launch an integrated campaign to spread the word, including a microsite, social media, print materials, advertisements and merchandise.

Campaign Graphic The supergraphic features over 100 icons representing individual actions that can be done - to minimize symptoms, delay progression of the disease, or generally improve quality of life. The icons are arranged in the shape of the NPF logo - a ribbon P that is itself a symbol for Parkinson's awareness.
Campaign Merchandise and new online store A line of campaign merchandise was designed to feature the supergraphic without explanation, sparking discussion and leading viewers to a landing page to learn what each of the icons represents. We also designed a new online store to help NPF sell the merchandise as well as distribute valuable informational materials.
Campaign microsite The educational landing page provides detail on all 100+ tips, with links to more information on each, as well as a series of inspirational stories.
Print advertising featuring real-life stories A series of seventeen advertisements feature inspiring stories of the varied ways real individuals are beating Parkinson's in their own lives, including patients, caregivers, family members and volunteers. See them all on the campaign website (click on the thumbnails at the bottom of the landing page).
